About
Laurel Lampasas Carroll, MA, LPC
I built Bloomstead Counseling around a belief that shaped my whole approach: people do not need to be fixed, they need to be understood accurately and then given real tools.

Welcome! I'm Laurel Lampasas Carroll MA, LPC. I graduated in December 2017 from Dallas Baptist University where I received my Masters in Counseling, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Minored in Christian Studies, all within the accelerated masters program.
I've always had a heart for knowing and helping people, derived from my large Italian & Lebanese family's and further fostered by working in ministry. The transition of ministry to counseling was a natural one; my favorite part being the one on one conversations had and getting to be a safe space for others.
I like to bring my warmth and humor into the session to make it comfortable. Your human is brave for showing up!I have experience in working with anxiety, depression, church hurt, women's issues, relationship issues, life transitions, anger issues and trauma as I am trained in EMDR. I work with pre teens, teens, and adults.
I will not nod along while you talk yourself out of what you need. I will advocate for you when needed. I will name patterns I notice, ask the question underneath the question, and hold a steady, kind line when a part of you would rather change the subject. I like to challenge, not make anyone uncomfortable.
My approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and integrates CBT, EMDR, and attachment-focused exploration. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, church hurt, women's issues, perfectionism, burnout, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, and self-esteem.
I offer Christian counseling for those who want faith integrated into our work, and I warmly welcome clients of all faith backgrounds — including those who prefer a secular, evidence-based approach. This space is for you as you are, not as anyone else thinks you should be, and is intended to be an inclusive space for all.
Bloomstead Counseling is currently telehealth only, serving clients throughout Texas. An in-person office in Houston, Texas, is planned to open in November 2026. Sessions are held from a private, quiet space, and I keep my caseload deliberately small.

The name
Why Bloomstead
bloom (v)- to flourish or thrive
stead (n)- a place occupied, or a role in which someone serves
A bloomstead is a place where things are tended rather than forced. Gardens do not hurry, and neither do people. This space is where the actual growing happens — in the unremarkable weeks of practicing a boundary, noticing a spiral sooner, letting yourself be a little less impressive and a little more honest.
Grace is what we extend to ourselves in that stretch. It is also, for me, the promise that strength is not the same as self-sufficiency. In 2 Corinthians 12:8–10, Paul writes about a thorn that does not leave, and hears this reply: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I hold that gently in my work — that our hardest, most tender places are not the end of the story; they are often where real healing begins.
Your first session
What the first hour is like
A warm welcome, intentional questions, & honest conversation.
- 01
The first ten minutes
Logistics and comfort. Where you are sitting, who might overhear, what would help you feel settled on camera.
- 02
Your story, loosely
I ask what brought you now rather than a full chronology. You share what you want to share.
- 03
Naming goals
We define what different would feel like in ordinary terms — sleeping, arguing less, wanting things again.
- 04
A plan
You leave with a sense of direction and the option to think it over before committing to more.
How I practice
What you can count on
Telehealth sessions throughout Texas. In-person office opening in Houston, Texas — November 2026.
- Slow is not the same as stalled — depth takes the time it takes
- You are the authority on your own experience; I am a consultant to it
- Insight is lovely, but relief and understanding is the point
- Nothing you bring here will be treated as too much or too small
- Culture, faith, family and body all belong in the conversation
BLOOMSTEAD COUNSELING: A SAFE PLACE TO FLOURISH
Let's see if we fit
The right counselor/client fit matters. Therapy doesn't work if you can't envision being honest and open with the person, and you are allowed to be picky about it. It's your story, after all!
